Sami wants to understand how the interior of a planet affects and controls the composition of its surface, and how volcanic degassing relates to long-term habitability. His research at the University of St Andrews combines isotopic and petrological investigations of natural samples alongside high-pressure and high-temperature experimental and theoretical geochemistry.
