Chair [she/her]

Tamsin is a volcanologist at the University of Oxford. Her current research includes studying the environmental effects of volcanoes in the present-day and over geological time and seeking to understand their internal plumbing, behaviour and hazards using petrological, geochemical, geophysical and satellite measurements.

Secretary [he/him]

Seb is a volcanologist at the University of Birmingham. His research investigates the physical and chemical processes that control the behavior and long-term development of volcanoes. Most of this work focuses on volcanism in subduction zones.

Treasurer [he/him]

James is a volcanologist at the University of Exeter. His primary research interests are in the processes controlling the dynamics of active and restless volcanoes and the geophysical and geochemical signals they produce, with an overarching aim of helping to improve eruption forecasting and hazard assessment capabilities.

Emma is a volcanologist at University College London. Her research combines fieldwork and remote sensing to explore the transport and emission of magmatic volatile elements, and the implications for volcanic hazard.

Web Manager [he/him]

Ed is a first year PhD student at the University of Leicester, researching caldera forming eruptions in the English Lake District. The research primarily utilises field mapping and geochemistry. He also studies virtual volcanoes in video games.

Claire is a volcanologist currently at University College Dublin. Her research focuses on volcanic instability through combining numerical modelling with laboratory deformation.

Pete is a volcanologist at the University of the West of England. His research focusses on exploring pyroclastic density current behaviours and deposits, and the resilience of volcanic materials to deformation and slope failure.

Lara is a social volcanologist at the Centre for the Study of Existential Risk at the University of Cambridge. Her research focuses on evidence-based education and outreach for volcanic and global catastrophic risks. She is also interested in exploring the societal impacts of high-impact eruption scenarios.

Katie is a volcanologist at Swansea University. Her research is focused on resolving volcanic stratigraphies and eruption histories, eruption dynamics, and pre-eruptive magmatic processes, by integrating field studies with a variety of petrological, geochronological and geochemical techniques.

Kerys is a PhD student at the University of Birmingham. Her research aims to explore how magma-reservoirs evolve following edifice destruction, particularly looking at the volcanoes of Anak Krakatau and Ritter Island.

Rahul Subbaraman

Rahul is a PhD student at the University of Manchester, who employs both petrological and geochemical techniques to study actively evolving mush systems.

Brendan McCormick Kilbride

Brendan is a volcanologist at the University of Manchester, interested in the behaviour of volatiles in magmatic systems and the emissions of gases into the atmosphere.

James is Earth Risk Research Lead for insurance broker WTW’s Research Network, working with a range of academic and industrial partners. His research collaborations centre around geohazards such as volcanic eruption, earthquake, landslide and tsunami.
